This page explains what BookTap stores, for authors who create links and for readers who click them.
Readers who click a link
When you open a BookTap link we record the time, the country your connection appears to come from, the Amazon store you were sent to, the kind of device and app the click came from, and a coarse source such as TikTok or Instagram. Your IP address is hashed with a secret that changes every day and the hash is kept only for duplicate detection; the raw IP address is never stored. We set no cookies on readers.
Authors with an account
We store your email address, your links (the Amazon product id, the ending you chose, a title and cover image where available) and the click statistics above. We use your email only to sign you in and to send essential notices about the service. Session cookies keep you signed in.
Amazon
Redirects include BookTap's Amazon Associates tag. Amazon's own privacy policy applies once a reader arrives on Amazon. As an Amazon Associate BookTap earns from qualifying purchases.
Where data lives
Redirects run on Cloudflare's network. Accounts, links and click statistics are stored with Supabase. Both act as processors for BookTap.
Deleting your data
Delete your account from Settings and your links and their click history are removed immediately. For anything else, write to hello@booktap.to.
